AC Milan's star midfielder Luka Modric is close to accepting a new contract offer from the Italian club.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, club officials have directly communicated their desire to retain Modric for the upcoming season. Head coach Ruben Amorim emphasized the Croatian's importance to his project.
The 40-year-old's current contract with Milan expired on June 30. He joined the club in the summer of 2025 after leaving Real Madrid.
Last season, Modric made 37 appearances, scoring two goals and providing three assists. He also played in the World Cup, reaching the round of 32 with Croatia.
During his time at Real Madrid, he won six Champions League titles and a Ballon d'Or in 2018.
