AC Milan and Croatia national team star midfielder Luka Modric is preparing to end his football career.

According to renowned insider Nicolo Schira, the 40-year-old Croatian plans to take this step after the 2026 World Cup. Thus, the mundial to be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico is expected to be the last major tournament of Modric's career.

Interestingly, reports had circulated earlier that Modric did not intend to renew his contract with the Rossoneri and could return to his former club Real Madrid.

Notably, Croatia will compete in Group L at the 2026 World Cup alongside England, Panama, and Ghana.
