The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has updated the code of conduct for athletes during award ceremonies, adding two new articles defining responsibility for ethical violations.
According to Oxu.Az, the new Article 13 strictly prohibits any political, religious, or racial propaganda on the podium. This includes displaying symbols, signs, messages, banners, clothing, or gestures of such nature. Only officially approved national flags are allowed.
Article 14 outlines sanctions. Violating Article 13 is considered a serious offense that can lead to disqualification, annulment of results, and revocation of medals and titles. National federations are fully responsible for their athletes' compliance and may face disciplinary and financial penalties.
