The player sustained the injury during Santos' 0-3 loss to Coritiba. Examinations revealed a strain in his right calf muscle.
The 34-year-old forward is the most prolific player in Brazilian national team history, scoring 79 goals in 128 appearances.
Brazil will compete in the World Cup group stage against Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland.
