Portugal's Prime Minister Luís Montenegro has gifted bracelets to national team members in memory of late striker Diogo Jota.

According to Oxu.Az citing Sport24.ru, midfielder Vitinha announced this at a press conference.

The player emphasized that the team will wear these bracelets during matches of the 2026 World Cup.

"When we met the Prime Minister, after ensuring we were allowed to wear them on the field, he gave us these bracelets. They have both our names and Diogo Jota's name on them. Montenegro said we could decide whether to wear them. We accepted them with great enthusiasm and decided to wear them," Vitinha said.

Recall that former Liverpool and Portugal national team player Diogo Jota and his brother André Teixeira da Silva lost their lives in a car accident on July 3, 2025, in northwestern Spain.
