Former England international James Milner has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 40.
The midfielder made the announcement on his social media account.
Milner spent his last three seasons at Brighton, and holds the absolute record for most appearances in the Premier League with 658 matches.
Throughout his entire professional career, he played only in England, representing clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Leeds United, in addition to Brighton.
During his illustrious career, Milner won 13 different trophies, including three Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League.
