Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla, twice European champion with the national team, has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 41.
Cazorla revealed the news on his social media account.
During his rich career, he played for Villarreal, Malaga, Arsenal, and Al-Sadd. With Arsenal, he won the FA Cup and Community Shield three times each.
A key figure in Spain's golden era, Cazorla won the European Championship in 2008 and 2012.
Since 2023, he played for his boyhood club Real Oviedo. In total, he made 774 club appearances, scoring 144 goals and providing 156 assists. For Spain, he scored 15 goals and 11 assists in 81 matches.
