Young figure skater Alexander Plyushchenko has expressed his joy after the International Skating Union (ISU) granted him permission to represent Azerbaijan in international competitions.
The 13-year-old athlete has switched his sports citizenship from Russia to Azerbaijan for the next five years.
"I am very happy. I will prepare and try to perform well. This is an international arena, special emotions. It will be interesting. Watch me, cheer for me," he said.
Alexander was also asked if he had received any advice from his father regarding competing on the international stage.
"No, nothing like that. Everything is as before. The competitions are just international," he replied.
It should be noted that Alexander (Sasha) Plyushchenko is the son of famous Russian figure skater Evgeni Plyushchenko and producer Yana Rudkovskaya.
