Rafa Mir, striker for Spanish club Elche, has been sentenced to 8.5 years in prison for sexual assault and bodily harm.
According to Marca, the 28-year-old received 7 years for sexual assault and 18 months for bodily harm. He is also banned from approaching the victim within 500 meters for 10 years.
Mir must pay €64,000 (approximately $74,350) in compensation to the victim.
Mir was on loan from Sevilla to Elche. Last season, he played 27 matches in the Spanish championship and scored 8 goals.
