Turan Tovuz football club, which finished third in the 2025/2026 Premier League season and qualified for the UEFA Conference League, has been excluded from European competitions for the 2026/2027 season by UEFA's decision.
According to a statement from the club, the UEFA Disciplinary Committee investigated the team's compliance with the criteria set for participation. The investigation was based on the decision of the AFFA Disciplinary Committee dated December 13, 2019.
That decision banned seven players of the team, which played in the First Division in the 2019/2020 season, from all football-related activities. UEFA considered this fact and restricted the club's participation in UEFA competitions for the 2026/2027 season.
The club stated that it disagrees with the decision, emphasizing that it qualified for the cup based on sporting principles, and announced that all legal steps will be taken to change the decision. An appeal will be filed with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the club said there are no changes to its preparation plans for European competitions. The team will gather this month and travel to Turkey for a training camp.
