Argentine TV host Florencia Peña has emotionally apologized and resigned after spreading false news about Lionel Messi's father's death.
On "Luzu TV" program "El Show del Verano," Peña told viewers: "I hate to give bad news, but Messi's father just passed away. Right in the middle of the World Cup, he will have to return."
On June 18, Peña issued a statement apologizing for the mistake. She said: "I apologize to Messi's family. I am ashamed to be the bearer of this pain. The false information was given to me live, but I take responsibility and have decided to leave Luzu."
