The US government has demanded that Iran's national football team leave the country immediately after their final group stage match against Egypt at the 2026 World Cup.
Oxu.Az reports that Iran's head coach Amir Ghalenoi made this statement on June 27 while answering a question from RIA Novosti.
At a press conference, the coach spoke about the host country's strict conditions. According to him, the team faces such restrictions for the third time.
"After the match, the body needs recovery. Having to take a three-hour flight immediately after the game delays the recovery process," he said.
Ghalenoi noted that such demands cause additional stress for athletes. The head coach called the US government's behavior terrible and emphasized that ongoing military operations also affect the players.
"I hope the world sees this. These approaches harm us. But we are showing good results and are proud of our team," Ghalenoi added.
The head coach expressed satisfaction with his players' performance despite external pressures and strict rules of the host country.
