Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk defeated Dutchman Rico Verhoeven to retain the WBC heavyweight championship.

The fight took place on May 24 in Egypt, against the backdrop of the famous Giza pyramids, ending in the 11th round by technical knockout.

The 39-year-old Ukrainian champion improved his professional record to 25-0, maintaining his unbeaten streak.

For the 37-year-old kickboxer Verhoeven, this was only his second professional boxing match (1 win, 1 loss).
