The mother of Vozinha, goalkeeper for the Cape Verde national football team, has received a US visa and will be able to watch her son's upcoming World Cup matches from the stadium.
According to Oxu.Az citing ESPN, this was announced by Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic leader in the US House of Representatives.
In the first round of the group stage, Cape Verde drew 0-0 with Spain. In that match, Vozinha made seven saves. After the match, the goalkeeper stated that his mother could not attend due to visa issues.
"I asked the State Department to do everything possible to ensure Vozinha's mother could attend Cape Verde's next match," Jeffries emphasized. He added that all fees have been paid and the player's mother will be able to attend the goalkeeper's next game.
"I thank Secretary of State Marco Rubio, State Department officials, the Cape Verdean government, and FIFA for their cooperation," Jeffries noted. In the second round, Cape Verde will face Uruguay.
