The 2026 World Cup, hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, stands out for its technological innovations.

According to Oxu.Az, "Haber Global" published an article on the topic. The championship has become a global platform showcasing modern technologies.

From boots to official balls, from digital systems improving referee accuracy to innovations enriching fan experience, many novelties are being applied.

The process of introducing these technologies into football begins mainly in scientific research centers and universities. Currently, automatic player tracking and AI analysis of match episodes are at the forefront.

FIFA's strategic plan for 2023-2027 also identifies "increasing fan appeal through digital technologies and artificial intelligence" as a key goal.

Main innovations at WC 2026:

  • Referee body cameras: Show fans the referee's perspective during goals or controversial decisions.
  • 3D offside animations: Used to explain offside situations after VAR checks.
  • Out-of-play technology: Accurately determines when the ball leaves the field.
  • "AI Pro" analysis system: All 48 teams use AI-based system for tactical assessments.
  • "Adidas Trion" ball: The ball with the fewest panels (four) and a sensor transmitting movement data 500 times per second.
  • Metamaterial boots: 3D-printed boots made from synthetic materials for perfect fit and comfort.
