At the 2026 World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico, many national teams are considering allowing substitute players to watch matches from the locker room due to abnormally hot weather.
According to "The Touchline" on X, if such a scenario occurs, an assistant coach will go from the bench to the locker room to send substitutes for warm-ups when needed.
Previously, FIFA mandated referees to allow two water breaks per match. The World Cup starts on June 11, with the opening game between Mexico and South Africa.
