VfL Wolfsburg has been relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time in club history.
This followed a 2-1 defeat to SC Paderborn 07 in the relegation playoff second leg.
The first leg had ended in a goalless draw.
Promoted in 1997, Wolfsburg had never left the top flight until now.
The club has won the Bundesliga once, the DFB-Pokal once, and the DFL-Supercup once.
