Bond.az -- Renault's chief executive said Thursday he has proposed to the European Commission that new car regulations be frozen for a decade to help make small cars more affordable and strengthen Europe's automotive sector.
Francois Provost told attendees at the FT Future of the Car event in London that European automakers are facing excessive regulatory pressure. "Our engineers are dealing with a tsunami of regulations from Europe," Provost said.
The Renault CEO outlined his proposal for a regulatory pause, stating: "Freeze regulations during 10 years, and then we can focus on affordability, we can focus on electrification." He added that the freeze would help reboost the European market.
