Iran has canceled technical negotiations scheduled for June 28 with the United States after mutual strikes between Iranian forces and US troops in the Strait of Hormuz.
IRIB television reported, citing Habibullah Fazaili, a member of the office of Iran's former supreme leader.
"Today, technical talks were to take place, but Iran refused to participate, and the meeting was canceled. The reason is the mutual strikes carried out in recent days (with the US - ed.)," Fazaili said.
According to him, before resuming technical consultations with the US side, Tehran insists on the preliminary implementation of a number of conditions, particularly ensuring access to frozen assets.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi earlier stated that any interference in the situation in the Strait of Hormuz would lead to further escalation of tension in the water basin.
In response to US strikes, IRGC on June 28 launched a combined attack with missiles and drones on US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain. Earlier, US troops struck Iran-linked targets around the Strait of Hormuz.
