The UK Ministry of Justice has sent over 7,000 notifications to crime victims, informing them that offenders are to be released early.
According to Oxu.Az, the move comes due to severe overcrowding in prisons. The first phase begins on September 2.
Inmates with sentences of less than 1.5 years will be included. From June 2027, more dangerous criminals with sentences over 12 years will also be released.
The process is part of a practice called "soft justice," aimed at emptying prisons.
