South Korean President Lee Jae-myung has ordered an investigation into the reasons behind the national football team's failure at the 2026 World Cup.
Oxu.Az reports that the president posted on social media: "I am not only confused but also in complete astonishment. It has been proven once again that personnel decide everything."
He attributed the defeat to the appointment of unqualified experts, wrong personnel policy, and financial mismanagement, resulting in taxpayer money not being spent as intended.
The president instructed the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to thoroughly study the incident and take steps to prevent recurrence.
Recall that head coach Hong Myung-bo resigned after the team's elimination. South Korea finished third in Group A: they beat Czech Republic 2-1 but lost to Mexico and South Africa 0-1 each.
