Two campaign workers for right-wing Colombian presidential candidate Abelardo De La Espriella were killed two weeks before the election, his party said.
Rogers Mauricio Devia and Fabian Cardona were shot on Friday night in a rural area of Cubarral, Meta province. Four hooded men on motorcycles intercepted them and opened fire.
Devia, a former mayor, coordinated the local campaign; Cardona assisted with logistics. They were returning by motorcycle with campaign materials.
De La Espriella called it a 'cowardly murder' and blamed a dissident faction of former FARC rebels, without evidence.
He polls second behind leftist Ivan Cepeda ahead of the May 31 first round. He promises a hard line against guerrillas and drug traffickers.
