A case of Ebola has been confirmed in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo's South Kivu province, hundreds of kilometers from the outbreak's epicenter.

The rebel alliance controlling the area said the patient has died and been buried safely.

Out of 670 suspected cases, 160 suspected deaths have been reported, with 61 confirmed cases.

The WHO declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern.

Aid workers report a shortage of basic supplies due to foreign aid cuts.
