BOGOTA, May 20 – Colombia's ELN rebels and FARC dissidents have declared separate ceasefires ahead of the presidential election.
The Central General Staff, the largest dissident FARC faction, and the ELN announced suspensions of military operations to allow Colombians to vote on May 31.
The ELN ceasefire runs from midnight May 30 to midnight June 2.
The Central General Staff suspended operations against public forces from May 20 to June 10.
The three main candidates are Ivan Cepeda, Paloma Valencia, and Abelardo De la Espriella.
Cepeda leads with 44.3% support.
