The US opened a larger diplomatic hub in Greenland on Thursday, met by demonstrators opposing President Donald Trump's ambition for greater influence.
Local government ministers shied away from the event. Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen declined the invitation.
Several hundred people demonstrated, carrying flags and posters saying "USA, stop it" and chanting "No means no" and "Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders."
The White House had considered acquiring Greenland, but talks have moved to a diplomatic track.
