May 26, Reuters – The Israeli military has expanded ground operations in southern Lebanon beyond a demarcation line it set up after an April ceasefire with Hezbollah, two sources said Tuesday.
The so-called 'Yellow Line' extends several kilometers inside Lebanese territory. No further details on the extent of the advance were given.
An Israeli military official said the operations are 'targeted' to remove threats to Israeli citizens, in line with political directives.
Prime Minister Netanyahu vowed to intensify strikes against Hezbollah, while a US official said the group ignored warnings to stop attacks.
Hezbollah claimed to have targeted Israeli forces with explosive drones, rockets, and artillery. The Israeli military struck several towns and issued evacuation warnings.
Lebanon's health ministry reported 3,213 dead and 9,737 wounded since March 2. WHO said at least 608 people have been killed since the truce.
