Israel faced mounting international criticism after its national security minister released a video showing detained Gaza flotilla activists kneeling with hands bound following the interception of aid vessels in international waters.
European Council President Antonio Costa said he was "appalled" by the treatment, calling for immediate release.
Britain summoned Israel's chargé d'affaires, with Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper expressing being "truly appalled."
Italy's government summoned the Israeli ambassador, demanding an apology. Spain, France, Poland, Ireland, Greece, Canada, Netherlands, and the U.S. also condemned the actions.
