Venezuelan official Alex Saab, an ally of former President Nicolas Maduro, has been charged with money laundering in connection with Venezuelan food contracts and oil, the U.S. Department of Justice announced on Monday.

Saab, a Colombian-Venezuelan businessman, was charged in Los Angeles on May 18, 2025.
