U.S. President Donald Trump announced that TrumpRx.gov, a government-backed website, will now feature over 600 generic drugs, including popular medications like atorvastatin for cholesterol and metformin for diabetes.
Launched in January, TrumpRx initially only listed branded medicines. The site does not sell drugs directly but directs patients to other online platforms.
The move is part of Trump's effort to lower prescription drug costs to levels seen in other developed nations. The administration expects $64.3 billion in savings over the next decade.
However, a Reuters comparison found prices on the site are not lower than those in the United Kingdom. How much consumers will save remains uncertain.
