In Moscow, two women scammed a 17-year-old student out of 16 million rubles (about $180,000).
According to the Russian Interior Ministry's Moscow press service, the women posed as "intercom service" workers and convinced the teen that his government services account was hacked.
They tricked him into sharing SMS codes and then, under the pretext of declaring family property, took cash, jewelry, and his father's watch worth over 6 million rubles.
Police identified two suspects aged 29 and 21. The younger woman pawned the items and converted the money into cryptocurrency for the organizers.
A criminal case has been opened.
