The mystery behind the 2022 China Eastern Airlines crash that claimed 132 lives has finally been solved. According to new findings by the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the Boeing 737 was intentionally flown into a mountain.
The crash occurred on March 21, 2022, while the aircraft was flying from Kunming to Guangzhou. It suddenly entered a steep dive and slammed into a hillside at high speed, killing all 123 passengers and 9 crew members on board.
Analysis of flight recorders reveals that both engines were manually shut down and the autopilot was disabled minutes before the crash. A struggle for control took place between the pilots: one attempted to pull the plane up while the other kept it in a dive.
Chinese aviation authorities found no evidence of technical malfunction. The crew did not issue any distress signal. These details strongly suggest the crash was an intentional act.
The motive remains unclear, but investigations are ongoing.
