Russian virologist Anatoly Altshtein compared the danger levels of Ebola and hantavirus.

He stated that the Ebola virus is significantly more dangerous in terms of infection risk than hantavirus.

Altshtein noted that Ebola symptoms differ markedly from hantavirus: "Ebola is more dangerous and has a very high mortality rate. Hantavirus spreads very weakly among people."

The expert emphasized that the hantavirus strain found on the cruise ship "MV Hondius" also carries a high risk of death: "In terms of probability of death, these two viruses can be compared. However, the hantavirus strain found on the ship is less likely to cause internal bleeding. Instead, it causes more heart and lung damage."

Recall that on May 17, WHO declared the Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda a public health emergency of international concern. The spread of the dangerous disease beyond the country's borders has been officially confirmed.
