The European Union (EU) has introduced a fixed customs duty of 3 euros on international parcels valued up to 150 euros, aiming to combat Chinese online stores and support its own retail trade.
According to Oxu.Az, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced this on her X account.
"From today, customs duties apply to parcels worth up to 150 euros in e-commerce. 30 million Europeans work in retail - it's the largest private employer in the EU," she wrote.
Von der Leyen added that many foreign goods do not meet EU safety standards, posing a threat to consumers. She noted that this customs measure will restore fairness for European businesses.
