During talks in Doha, representatives of Iran and the US reached a preliminary agreement to release $3 billion of Tehran's frozen assets abroad.
Oxu.Az reports that this information was provided by Al Arabiya TV channel. It is not clear whether the funds are frozen in the US or other countries. The final decision on transferring the amount to Iran will depend on progress in the negotiations.
The channel's sources also said that indirect contacts continue between the parties, especially on the issue of the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier, Oman proposed its plan regarding the strait. Now, delegations from both sides are expected to return home and hold consultations on Oman's initiative.
Earlier, Bloomberg agency, citing a US administration official, reported that US President's special envoy Steven Witkoff and the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner had positive talks in Doha on July 1, while technical consultations with the Iranian side are progressing.
