An appellate court in Baku has reviewed the sentence of Zamin Zaki, one of the defendants in the 'NGO case.' The hearing was chaired by Judge Emin Aliyeva, and a decision was announced.
According to the decision, Zamin Zaki's prison term has been reduced by 3 months.
Previously, the Baku Court of Grave Crimes had sentenced Zamin Zaki to 7 years and 6 months in prison. He was charged under Articles 313 (forgery), 193-1.3.2 (laundering of criminally obtained funds), and 308.1 (abuse of power) of the Criminal Code.
Zaki is accused of illegally laundering over 50,000 manat.
The criminal case involves several NGOs operating in Azerbaijan. Other individuals include Mammad Alpay, Bashir Suleymanli, Subhan Hasanli, Hafiz Hasanov, Asaf Ahmadov, and Ahmad Mammadzade.
