The "Nitrogen" hacker group claims to have breached several Foxconn facilities and stolen confidential data from Apple, Google, Nvidia, Intel, and Dell. They reportedly obtained approximately 8 TB of data, covering over 11 million files.
According to Oxu.Az, citing MacRumors, the stolen materials include internal documents related to Apple projects and technical drawings from other tech companies. Foxconn confirmed a cyberattack on its US plants but did not verify if customer data was actually stolen. The company said cybersecurity experts took immediate action, and production did not stop. Affected plants are gradually returning to normal operations.
Foxconn is a key partner for Apple in device assembly. However, Apple typically restricts contractors' access to information about future products, providing only necessary technical details for production.
Researchers at Coveware suggest the Nitrogen group may be linked to a leaked version of the Conti 2 ransomware. Experts note that due to an error in the encryption program used, file recovery may be impossible even if the ransom is paid.
