Three major Japanese automakers – Honda, Nissan and Mitsubishi – plan to jointly use standardized engine control units in their next-generation models.
This move aims to reduce costs and maintain competitiveness in an increasingly complex market.
The new units will integrate all necessary autonomous driving functions and software-driven infotainment systems.
They will be used in both hybrid and electric models. The agreement is expected to be finalized within a few weeks.
