Violent clashes between armed groups in Haiti have forced approximately 5,300 people to flee their homes in the past three days.
According to Oxu.Az, citing Le Monde, the incidents are raging in the northern areas of the capital, Port-au-Prince. Human rights defender Pierre Fritnel said criminal groups loot and burn residential buildings, schools, and commercial facilities.
The brutal war between factions has forced the closure of hospitals and several medical posts belonging to Doctors Without Borders.
Haiti's civil war has been ongoing since 2021. Criminal gangs control large parts of Port-au-Prince and several central regions. According to the UN, from March 2025 to January 2026, over 5,500 people were killed and nearly 2,600 wounded. Since 2021, total deaths have reached nearly 20,000.
