A suspect accused of plotting to assassinate Ivanka Trump, daughter of the US president, has been detained in Turkey.
According to Oxu.Az, the New York Post reported the news citing sources.
The suspect, 32-year-old Mohammad Bakir Saad Davud al-Saadi, is linked to Iran's SEPAH and the Kataib Hezbollah group. He allegedly planned the attack to avenge Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, killed in a US strike in Baghdad in 2020.
Al-Saadi reportedly shared a map of Ivanka Trump's residence in Florida on social media, issuing threats in Arabic.
He was detained in Turkey on May 15 and later extradited to the US.
US authorities accuse him of organizing and coordinating attacks on American and Jewish targets in Europe and North America, including an arson at a bank in Amsterdam, a stabbing of two Jews in London, and a shooting at the US consulate in Toronto.
Born in Baghdad, al-Saadi received training in Tehran through SEPAH. The White House has not commented on the assassination plot reports.
