British automaker Jaguar Land Rover is recalling 250,857 SUVs in the United States due to a defect affecting the driver's airbag deployment.
According to Reuters, citing reports from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall involves Land Rover models Defender, Discovery, and some vehicles from the Range Rover series, owned by India's Tata Motors.
The issue stems from corrosion in the driver's airbag spring connector, which can prevent the airbag from deploying properly, increasing injury risk during a crash.
Dealers will apply a protective grease to the connector terminals free of charge. The production years of the affected vehicles have not been disclosed.
