Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has revealed that he was in the building when the office of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was bombed.
According to Oxu.Az, the head of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spoke about this in an interview with the "Al Mayadeen" TV channel.
"After returning from the Geneva talks on Friday, I went to Mr. Khamenei's office on Saturday at 9:00 AM to present my report. My report was about the discussions held on Friday and the atmosphere that had developed. That atmosphere had repeatedly increased the likelihood of war," he said.
Araghchi noted that the building where Ali Khamenei was located came under attack: "The building we were in was directly targeted, but the part where we were located was not damaged. While trying to get out from under the rubble, all my thoughts were focused on whether he had been targeted. Until the news of the leader's death was confirmed - during the first two days, I was extremely worried about his fate.
The first question that came to my mind was 'How is the leader?' My concern for the supreme leader during the bombardment was so great that I even forgot my own safety."
Emphasizing that the events are never forgotten, Araghchi concluded: "This is a wound that has pierced our hearts and will never heal. The killing of the leader was a turning point in Iran's history and a moment that demonstrated Iran's strength to the whole world."
