The US company 'Vanguard Energy' has canceled plans to deliver 250,000 barrels of fuel to Cuba after sanctions were imposed on Cuba's state oil company 'Cupet'.
According to Oxu.Az, citing 'Bloomberg', this export could have been the largest shipment of American fuel to the island since 1960.
After the Trump administration added Cupet to the sanctions list, the company stated that operational restrictions made such supplies impossible.
Vanguard Energy President Matthew Klann emphasized that the restrictions were linked to US officials' actions against Cuban state entities. The company confirmed compliance with all sanctions and export control requirements.
'Bloomberg' reports that the decision comes amid Cuba's worst energy crisis in decades. Washington aims to limit the Cuban government's ability to use the energy sector to finance its activities.
