Plans for the US and Iran to sign a memorandum of understanding and begin technical talks in Switzerland have not yet been fully agreed.
Oxu.Az reports that this was stated by an official representative of US Vice President JD Vance.
"As the Vice President said at a press conference, plans for upcoming talks on technical issues have not yet been fully confirmed, and the US delegation is ready to leave at the first opportunity. However, the organizational side of such talks has never been easy or predictable," the representative noted.
The statement also emphasized that the Vice President is not scheduled to leave for Switzerland on June 18 at Eastern Time evening. Washington intends to start these discussions as soon as possible.
Barak Ravid, a journalist for Axios and Israel's Channel 12, reacted to the issue.
In a post on platform X, he said that behind Washington's postponement of Vice President JD Vance's planned trip to Switzerland may be Tehran's stance on Lebanon. According to Ravid, citing US officials, the delay is partly due to Iran's demands regarding the situation in Lebanon.
Tehran has previously warned that any new attack by Israel on Lebanon would be considered a violation of the terms of the memorandum of understanding with the United States.
JD Vance had earlier announced that the signing ceremony of the memorandum would likely take place over the weekend. He emphasized that the realization of this matter mainly depends on the steps taken by Iran.
