The criminal case against Vidadi Mustafayev, former leader of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the Urals, has been filed with the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg.
According to Oxu.Az, citing the publication "Kommersant," this is reflected in the court's file data.
It is reported that Vidadi Mustafayev has been charged with three counts of fraud (Parts 3 and 4 of Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code).
One of the criminal charges may be related to the purchase of a Porsche car. According to one version, Mustafayev did not pay for the car he bought from his acquaintance, Azerbaijani citizen Navruz Sadatov. Another version suggests that he purchased the car and one million rubles ($23,000) for the position of deputy diaspora leader but failed to fulfill his promise. When he refused to return the money and the car, Sadatov appealed to law enforcement.
During the court hearing on the selection of a preventive measure, Mustafayev was informed that the Porsche had already been confiscated. At the time of his arrest, he pleaded not guilty, claiming he was being framed.
"My activities are not related to crime, I am not a robber," he stated.
Recall that Vidadi Mustafayev began leading the Azerbaijani community last August after the arrest of former diaspora leader Shahin Shikhlinsky, who was sentenced to 24 years in prison.
