The desire to achieve smoother skin through acid peels can lead to serious complications if the procedure is performed too frequently or without proper sun protection.
According to Oxu.Az, the "Abzats" publication reported this based on the statement of dermatologist and cosmetologist Vasilina Mironova. The expert noted that improper peeling increases the risk of dangerous skin changes.
"Chronic damage to cells is associated with multiple aggressive traumas caused by excessive peeling. This creates constant inflammation and stress in cells, disrupting the regeneration process," Mironova explained.
According to the specialist, overly deep or improperly performed peels can cause chemical burns, redness, burning sensation, and swelling. Additionally, the procedure may result in permanent pigmentation and scarring. She noted that while excessive peeling does not directly cause cancer, it may increase the risk of its development.
The expert emphasized that acid peeling should only be performed by a qualified dermatologist or cosmetologist. To minimize the risk of complications, it is essential to consult with a specialist before the procedure, follow post-treatment skincare recommendations, and always use sunscreen.
