Germany's Lufthansa airline is preparing to temporarily suspend operations of up to 40 aircraft due to fuel shortages.
According to Spiegel, CEO Carsten Spohr informed employees that the fuel situation has deteriorated significantly.
The management has drawn up two contingency plans for emergencies, which include grounding up to 40 planes.
However, a final decision has not yet been made. Spohr said, "Today we have only decided on a package of measures."
If the grounding is approved, it could take effect as early as July.
