North Korea has tested a new Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) considered an analogue of the US HIMARS system.
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the system is equipped with guided projectiles of various calibers.
"During the tests, the combat characteristics of the modernized 240mm MLRS with 24 launchers were analyzed and evaluated," the report said.
The upgraded MLRS has fully automated preparation stages. The range of the 240mm high-precision projectiles has been increased to 90 kilometers.
During the tests, the warhead of the Hwason-11Ra tactical ballistic missile, which can be launched from the MLRS, was also tested. The new warhead is designed to destroy important enemy facilities, including airfields and energy infrastructure.
