Hollywood actor Richard Gere, together with the Gere Foundation, Spain's "HOGAR SÍ" non-profit organization, and UN-Habitat, will address homelessness at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku from May 17-22.
In a video shared on his Instagram, Gere spoke about his documentary "The Thing Nobody Wants to See," which will be screened in Baku on May 21.
According to Gere, the partnership aims to bring homelessness to the global agenda. He noted that nearly three billion people lack adequate housing, over one billion live in informal settlements, and more than 300 million are homeless.
The film features conversations between Richard and Alexandra Gere with people who have experienced homelessness and transformed their lives through housing. Gere emphasized: "Housing is the foundation of all other rights. Homelessness is not inevitable; it is a profound injustice."
