A hidden feature related to cleaning the camera lens has been discovered on Apple smartphones.
According to Oxu.Az citing "CNet", users often accidentally dirty their smartphone cameras, for example, leaving fingerprints on the lens. Apple has developed a special function that detects when the lens is dirty. The innovation was introduced in the iOS 26 operating system.
The function analyzes the camera's condition before shooting and sends a notification on the screen if the lens is dirty. According to the authors, this feature will help take higher quality photos.
To activate the function, users need to go to "Settings" on their smartphone, then enter the "Camera" menu and enable the "Lens cleaning notifications" option.
"Once this feature is active, the iPhone will automatically analyze the image and recommend cleaning the camera when necessary," the authors said.
The new capability is not available on all devices. The function only works on the iPhone 15 series and newer models.
