WhatsApp has officially introduced usernames on its official blog. This feature allows users to hide their phone numbers.
When activated, new contacts—whether individuals or companies—won't be able to see your phone number. Instead, they can reach you via your username.
The feature will roll out officially later this year, but users can already reserve usernames by navigating to Settings > Account > Username in the updated app version.
Additionally, users can set a 4-digit PIN. To send a message, others must know both your username and PIN. The feature will be enabled gradually across countries in the coming months, and WhatsApp will notify users when it's available.
